OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition Hands-On: Brace Yourself for the Best Smartphone Unboxing Experience Ever

As every year it is the case with the OnePlus flagship phones, this year as well, the Chinese OEM manufacturer has tied up with a brand to come up with a special edition OnePlus 6T. This time around, the brand which OnePlus has partnered up with is none other than the premium F1 car manufacturer McLaren. In a partnership which has been branded as “Salute to Speed”, OnePlus launched a OnePlus 6T with a McLaren logo, unique specifications and a McLaren custom colour scheme. We managed to get our hands on a OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition and here are the first impressions of the phone.

OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition: Packaging and First Impressions

Being the special edition of the phone, we were greeted with a unique packaging which we don’t get to see on the standard OnePlus 6T. The package of the phone also features the “Salute to Speed” branding with the signature orange and black McLaren colour scheme. Inside the box, we get to see the device itself, the Warp charger, USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter and some documentation. The colour scheme of the accessories also follows the one on the package. The highlight among the accessories is the Warp charger which comes clad in Papaya orange and supports 30W charging, boasting of 50% charge in just 20 minutes. This in contrast to the regular 10W charger which we get to see on the regular OnePlus 6T. Among other things inside the package, we get a McLaren medallion, a special note from OnePlus CEO and a carbon fibre protective case as well. All in all, it's the best smartphone unboxing ever and OnePlus did a commendable job this time around.

OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition: Design, Specifications and Camera

The OnePlus 6T McLaren edition features the Papaya Orange outline on the back panel of the phone, and it comes with the McLaren branding on the lower half. Like the regular OnePlus 6T, the OnePlus branding stays right in the middle of the rear side, and the rest of the phone remains identical to the standard OnePlus 6T. The AMOLED screen measures 6.41-inches, and it comes with a waterdrop notch. The McLaren colour scheme is even followed in the software of the phone as well. The OxygenOS comes tweaked with a different theme which features black and orange as its primary colours. As for the hardware, unlike the regular OnePlus 6T, this one comes with a massive 10GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Under the hood, things pretty much remain the same, and we get the Snapdragon 845 SoC. The dual rear camera setup on the phone also remains same as on the original OnePlus 6T. It consists of primary and secondary 16MP sensors with f/1.7 aperture. On the front, the phone features a 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. Also, like the standard OnePlus 6T variant this edition also boasts of the in-display fingerprint sensor.

OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition: Pricing in India

For fans of both the brands, the OnePlus 6T and McLaren this new edition of the OnePlus 6T might be an attractive buy. People who would also like to play heavy games might consider this new phone since it comes with a massive RAM. The phone comes in a single variant with 10GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, and it's priced at Rs 50,999. It can be exclusively purchased via Amazon India, OnePlus Online Store and also at OnePlus Exclusive offline stores.
