The Chinese brand has seen immense growth this year in India, whether it is through the introduction of the OnePlus 6 or by making record-breaking sales. To the joy of a lot of buyers, OnePlus is here again with its fall release of the OnePlus 6T. The second iteration and the successor of the OnePlus 6 which was launched earlier this year is finally here now, and it brings a lot of improvements onboard. Although the phone will sport the same processor – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, there are going to be a lot of changes on the outside which will make the OnePlus 6T a much better upgrade as compared to the other ‘T’ versions launched by OnePlus in the past. OnePlus 6T Officially Launched in India: Specs and Changes
With the global launch of the event already over on Monday in New York, the OnePlus event in India started at 8:30 PM at night on Tuesday. In the event, OnePlus unveiled the new OnePlus 6T in its full glory for its Indian buyers along with the pricing of the phone. In the launch, it was pretty clear that the leaks, rumours and speculations had left little to the reveal. Confirming all the previous reports we got to see that the OnePlus 6T did give up on the headphone jack and instead only debuted with the USB Type C on the bottom edge. Further, the in-display fingerprint sensor also made its way to the OnePlus 6T. Another significant change on the OnePlus 6T is in terms of design, where we get to see the curved teardrop styled notch.
OnePlus 6T: Specifications and Features
The OnePlus 6T is a dual-SIM (Nano) device running the OxygenOS-based on the latest Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box. The phone sports a 6.41-inch full-HD+ display with 1080x2340 pixels resolution on an AMOLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display also lends support for sRGB (100.63%) and comes with DCI-P3 colour gamuts. The screen comes protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and is said to furnish a top brightness of 600 nits. On the top, we have the waterdrop-style notch, which fits in a three-in-one ambient light sensor, distance, and RGB sensor alongside the front-facing camera. Under the hood, the phone is run by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, paired with 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM.
On the imaging front, the phone flaunts a dual rear setup consisting of a primary 16MP Sony IMX519 sensor with a f/1.7 aperture and 1.22-micron pixels, stacked with a 20MP Sony IMX376K sensor with f/1.7 aperture and 1-micron pixels. The phone is capable of shooting 4K video at 60fps, Super Slow Motion Video of 1080p at 240fps and 720p at 480fps. There is also a dual-LED flash with the camera setup, and the phone also supports OIS and EIS for the rear cameras.
The front selfie snapper on the OnePlus 6T is a 16MP IMX371 sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and 1-micron pixels. The selfie camera on the OnePlus 6T also comes enabled with EIS and can record 1080p at 30fps and 720p video at 30fps. The camera setup on the OnePlus 6T remains unchanged when compared to the predecessor. However, the face unlock has been touted to open the phone in just 0.4 seconds which makes it blazing fast.
For storage, the buyers will get to choose from either 128GB or 256GB of inbuilt storage which will not be expandable by a microSD card. The connectivity options on the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802ac (dual-band, 2.4GHz and 5GHz), NFC, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C (v2.0) port. The phone rocks a 3,700mAh battery which is a significant upgrade as compared to the previous phone, and it is also one of the reasons for the removal of the headphone jack. The phone also comes with fast charge support (5V, 4A) and it has been claimed to deliver a day’s worth of power in just half an hour. OnePlus 6T Pricing and Offers
The OnePlus 6T has been announced to bear a price tag of Rs 37,999. For the first time, OnePlus is offering 128GB of storage even with the base model. The 6GB+128GB storage variant carries a price tag of Rs 37,999, followed by the 8GB+128GB version which will retail for Rs 41,999. Lastly, the premium variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage can be purchased for Rs 44,999.
It’s worth noting that Amazon will be offering a lot of exciting cashbacks and discounts to the buyers who purchase the phone online from the platform. Among many, there is going to be the Rs 5,400 cashback for Reliance Jio users and an instant discount of Rs 2,000 while purchasing the phone through ICICI credit or debit cards. Further, Citi Bank credit card holders buying the phone before November 5 will get Rs 1,000 cashback as Amazon Pay balance and a free of cost accidental/liquid damage protection insurance which will be worth Rs 2,000. However, this offer will be conditional on opening a Kotak 811 account. Further, Amazon is also offering OnePlus Type-C Bullets earphones for free paired with a Rs 500 cashback as Amazon Pay balance.
There was also a pre-booking going on Amazon.in till Tuesday whereby interested buyers could pre-book the phone beforehand and benefit from many offers which the e-commerce giant was offering. This year, OnePlus has also announced that buyers will be able to get their hands on the phone offline in Reliance Digital stores and Croma outlets as well. Further, the phone will also be available for purchase on the OnePlus official site.
