OnePlus 5T vs OnePlus 5: 5 Rumoured Differences and New Features Expected in the Upcoming Flagship Killer

Follow Us

The OnePlus 5 is a great phone, at least when you consider the value for money ratio. When it got launched, both the company and the smartphone were criticised for copying the design and increasing the price of the smartphone. But thankfully, other flagship phones were priced at a higher note which made the OnePlus 5 the affordable flagship phone of the year, as of now.

But rumours say that the Chinese company is preparing the OnePlus 5T, an incremental update to the OnePlus 5 with ongoing trends in the smartphone world. OnePlus, last year launched the OnePlus 3T and said that the 'T' will be exclusive to only OnePlus 3, meaning there won't be any OnePlus 'T' smartphones. However, as per several media reports, the OnePlus 5T is expected to launch next month.

As expected, complete details about the OnePlus 5T already surfaced online, including teasers and specifications. Take a look at the 5 rumoured differences and new features expected in the OnePlus 5T.

1) Edge-to-Edge Full HD+ Display
While the major difference between OnePlus 3 and 3T was the processor, the major difference between the OnePlus 5 and 5T is expected to be the display. The OnePlus 5T is expected to feature a 6-inch edge-to-edge Full HD+ display like other flagship smartphones releasing these days.

2) First OnePlus Device With Rear-Mounted Fingerprint Scanner
So the edge-to-edge display means that there is no room for the fingerprint scanner on the front. As per the renders leaked online, the fingerprint scanner is placed at the back of the phone. And yes, if this happens, the OnePlus 5T will be the first OnePlus device to sport a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

3) Removal of Hardware Keys
Also, the OnePlus 5T won't feature any physical home buttons like earlier OnePlus devices. Since the OnePlus One, the company is providing an option to enable on-screen navigation keys and hardware keys. And with the OnePlus 5T, it is highly expected that the hardware keys are likely going away.

4) Dual Selfie Camera
This is highly unexpected, but as per a new media report, the OnePlus 5T will be a modified version of the Oppo R11S which is pegged for November 2 release in China. The Oppo R11S is expected to come with a dual selfie camera, much like Oppo tradition, and the OnePlus 5T is also expected to offer a dual selfie camera. That said, there's no concrete evidence about this rumour though.

5) Higher Price
If you recall the history of OnePlus, the company hiked the price of its every new smartphone compared to its previous iteration. And that's going to continue with the OnePlus 5T as well. Furthermore, the OnePlus 5T is expected to be the company's first smartphone to be priced over $500 for the base variant. Of course, the OnePlus 5 premium variant with 8GB of RAM costs $549, but the base variant with 6GB of RAM costs just $479.

The OnePlus 5T with 6GB of RAM might cost $529, whereas the premium model is expected to carry a price tag of $569.
