Earlier OnePlus had announced that it would be launching a new 5G enabled smartphone in 2019 with a different branding besides the two phones which it will launch in the next year under the OnePlus flag. A new report has surfaced courtesy of Fudzilla, which tells that the new 5G enable OnePlus smartphone will cost the buyers $100 more than the previous OnePlus 6T. Also, notably, OnePlus won’t be the only OEM joining the bandwagon of 5G next year, more manufacturers like Samsung, Lenovo, Oppo, Xiaomi, LG and Huawei also plan to launch 5G smartphones next year.
Price Likely to Shoot Up Owing to 5G Technology
The people at Fudzilla have revealed through sources aware of the matter that the OnePlus 5G phone is expected to see a $100 rise over the previous price of the OnePlus 6T. To give you a perspective, right now the OnePlus 6T costs $549 in the USA and € 549 in Europe. Given this price tag, the new 5G phone from OnePlus is said to start retailing at $549 in the USA. Further Fudzilla has also reported that OnePlus is going to launch a 5G variant of the OnePlus 7. This revelation has led us to believe that the third launch of the 5G phone by OnePlus will not be altogether different than the OnePlus 7. OnePlus had also earlier revealed that it would not ship the standard OnePlus 7 with 5G capability since that would increase the price tag of the phone, making it unattractive for the consumers. Even then, the 5G smartphone from OnePlus is not expected to be exorbitantly priced when compared to the other premium 5G smartphones from Samsung or Huawei. In India, OnePlus launched the OnePlus 6 this year at Rs 34,999 followed by OnePlus 6T at the price range of Rs 37,999.
