Currently, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are offering VoLTE services in India. While Reliance Jio has pan-India VoLTE coverage, Airtel is offering VoLTE service in a few key services. However, unlike Reliance Jio, Airtel has to separately rollout support for each device manually. Airtel VoLTE services are already available on wide range of smartphones from brands such as Apple, Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, Gionee, Nokia, etc.
At the moment, Airtel is offering VoLTE services in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Karnataka and Chennai. And more recently, Airtel VoLTE service was rolled out in Coimbatore.
In order to avail VoLTE service on any supported device, you will have to get an Airtel 4G SIM or upgrade your existing connection to 4G from the nearest Airtel service centre. Also, even in the areas where Airtel is offering VoLTE, you may not receive VoLTE right away as the service availability depends on the area where you're living in.
Airtel promised to roll out pan-India VoLTE services by the end of March 2018. Vodafone India also expected to launch VoLTE this month, which will be followed by Idea Cellular early next month.
