As teased last week, ZTE's child brand Nubia has launched the mid-range Nubia N2 smartphone in India. The device has a massive 5000mAh battery, which is also its USP. As seen with other Nubia smartphones, the N2 will also be sold in the country exclusively via Amazon India at Rs. 15,999.
The smartphone succeeds the last year's Nubia N1 in India, which also featured a 5000mAh battery. The Nubia N2 brings improvements to the camera and battery optimisations as well. ZTE promises up to 60 hours of talk time and up to three days of standby time with the Nubia N2. The device is already up for sale via Amazon India. The Nubia N2 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Nubia UI.
Nubia has launched the phone in two colour options- Black Gold and Champagne Gold. The device comes with a 5.5-inch HD display, carrying a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The display is a mere disappointment because other smartphones in the similar price range are offering Full HD display.
The smartphone is fuelled with an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 chip, with a 1.5GHz CPU. The chipset is paired with 4GB of RAM and carries 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable via a microSD card.
Commenting on the launch, Eric Hu, Country Head, Nubia India said, "With every Nubia product that is introduced in India, we are increasing our ability to respond to feedback of our customers. Big battery, steady performance and great camera have been universal themes around which our customers have sought improvisation from us. Keeping this in mind, we have introduced Nubia N2. With proprietary Neo Power technology, and 5000mAh battery, this device lasts 3 days on a single charge. Nubia is overwhelmed with the affection it has received in India market and we are determined to introduce products that continue to enrich lives of our customers."
As mentioned earlier, Nubia has improved the camera in the N2, compared to last year's Nubia N1. The Nubia N2 is equipped with a 13MP Sony IMX258 sensor with a f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, and dual-tone LED flash. At the front of the phone is a 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and wide-angle lens.
Connectivity options in the device include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and USB Type-C port. The smartphone weighs 180 grams (due to the massive battery) and measures 7.9mm in thickness.
For the asking price, the smartphones go against the Moto G5 Plus and Lenovo P2 in India, but both the phones are powered by the power-efficient Snapdragon 625 chip. Also, they offer better displays in the form of Full HD Super AMOLED panels.
