HMD Global, the company behind the Nokia smartphones, is planning to launch a new Nokia 9 smartphone in 2018. A new alleged render of the Nokia 9 was spotted on the Chinese social networking site, Weibo. The render reveals the Nokia 9 will sport all-screen bezel-less display. The phone comes with ultra slim bezels on the side while there are tad bit thick bezels top and bottom bezels.Earlier leaks revealed the device would sport a display with 18:9 aspect ratio.
And on top of that, the smartphone paid a visit to FCC, which revealed the key specifications of the smartphone. As per the FCC listing, the Nokia 9 will have a model number- TA-1005 and will flaunt a 5.5-inch LG-made OLED display. Being an 18:9 panel, the overall footprint of the device will be smaller.
The listing also revealed two rear cameras of 12MP+13MP, which could be an RGB sensor and a monochrome sensor. There will be a 5MP front-facing camera. The device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, but the amount of RAM was not listed in the FCC certification papers though. The device will have an internal storage of 128GB. That said, the Nokia 9 will boot Android Oreo out of the box and will have a 3250mAh battery.
As per the renders leaked, the Nokia 9 will have a similar design language as the Nokia 8. These renders also revealed a dual camera setup at the back, but what's surprising is that there's a dual camera setup on the front as well. Also, the Nokia branding seems to be missing from the front of the handset.
Previously, the Nokia 9 is also said to pack an advanced IRIS scanner on the front, but the FCC certification pages did not reveal any such information. That said, we're not sure whether this information belongs to Nokia 9 itself. Because the model number TA-1005 is close to the model number of Nokia 8, which is TA-1004. Chances are that this FCC certified smartphone could be the rumoured Nokia 8 (2018), which is also expected to launch alongside Nokia 9.
The Nokia 9 was earlier said to come with the TA-1047 model number. That said, we suggest you take this news with a pinch of salt, but the specifications mentioned above will make into one of the upcoming Nokia smartphones. HMD Global is expected to launch next-generation Nokia phones on January 19 in China.
