Nokia TA-1124 Budget Phone With Snapdragon 439 SoC in the Works

2018 has been a great year for HMD Global that makes Nokia phones. This year the company has officially made a comeback to the Indian smartphone space. HMD Global has launched phones throughout the year. The latest one that the company has launched is the Nokia 8.1, which has already received a lot of appreciation. Before the Nokia 8.1, HMD launched several other phones like the Nokia 5.1, 5.1 Plus, Nokia 6.1, 6.1 Plus, Nokia 7.1, and so on. Now, a new report reveals that HMD Global could be working on a new budget segment smartphone to launch very soon. As of now, the name of the smartphone is unknown, but the model number is TA-1124.

The alleged upcoming Nokia phone has made its way to the (Federal Communications Commission ) FCC certification site with the model number Nokia TA-1124. The same Nokia phone with the same model number was previously spotted on Bluetooth certification site. Until now not much was known about this Nokia phone, but the FC listing has revealed some of the key specs of the phone. Going by the listed specs, it looks like that this Nokia phone will fall under the affordable segment and most likely a successor to the Nokia 2.1.

Nokia TA-1124 Specifications

The FCC listing reveals that the Nokia phone with Nokia TA-1124 will be budget segment device as it has been spotted running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Only one variant of the phone has been spotted in the FCC website, but like all other Nokia phones, we expect HMD Global to bring more variants.

The FCC listing reveals that the Nokia TA-1124 will sport a 5.99-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The certification listing also reveals the camera configuration of the Nokia phone. It shows the Nokia with a dual camera setup on the back panel while the front panel will have a single camera sensor for selfies. The Nokia TA-1124 phone is seen featuring a primary camera with 13MP autofocus sensor on the back while the secondary camera has a 5MP sensor with fixed focus. On the front, the Nokia phone is spotted with an 8MP sensor which will be responsible for clicking selfies. The FCC listing further reveals that the Nokia phone will be backed by a battery which will be between 3400mAh to 3500mAh.

Nokia TA-1124 Expected Launch Date

As of now, there’s no report when the Nokia TA-1124 phone will be launching, but now that the device has made its way to the FCC certification site we can say that the launch is imminent. HMD could launch the Nokia TA-1124 phone at the beginning of next year. The company is also working on its Penta camera phone called the Nokia 9 Pureview to launch next year. The launch timeline of the Nokia 9 Pureview is yet to be revealed by the company.

Is the Nokia TA-1124 Successor to Nokia 2.1?

In a single year itself, HMD Global has launched successors to Nokia 5.1, Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 3.1 dubbed as Nokia 5.1 Plus, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 3.1 Plus. That said, the Finnish upstart company seems to be working on the successor to the Nokia 2.1 and it could be the Nokia 2.1 Plus. Also, HMD currently has only the Nokia 2 lineup with Snapdragon 400 series- so there’s a possibility the new phone will be the successor to Nokia 2.1 itself.

Though a good smartphone but,
LPDDR3 Memory technology (RAM) and X6 LTE (download: Cat 4, up to 150 Mbit/s; upload: Cat 5, up to 75 Mbit/s)
I won’t suggest anyone, better to wait few months to get X9 LTE in budget segment like we got in Snapdragon 435 & 450.
I don’t know why Qualcomm didn’t announce any better chip in budget segment, only improvement in 439 is that it supports Bluetooth 5.0, though not necessary if smartphone makers will give that facility in phone. & rest are all downgrade including USB 2.0 only supports (no 3.0) [sad].
Better to go for 600 series phone by spending a little more.
