Nokia Lumia 630 gets SensorCore instead of Ambient and Proximity sensors

At the Nokia Build Conference earlier this year, Nokia announced the Lumia 630 in single SIM and dual SIM versions which recently went on sale in India for Rs 10,500 and Rs 11,500 respectively. There was a lot of confusion regarding the presence of Ambient and Proximity sensors and Nokia has just laid all the confusion to rest. The Lumia 630 does not get Ambient and Proximity sensors but instead comes with a SensorCore.

What does the Ambient light sensor do and would you really miss it?

The Ambient light sensor basically adjusts the brightness level of the screen after taking into consideration the light levels in your surroundings. The feature is a pretty handy one in times of varying light levels in your surroundings. The Lumia 630 misses out on that. You can however adjust the brightness to medium and the Lumia 630 will get things just fine for you.

What is the use of Proximity sensor and would you miss it?

Proximity sensor basically detects your proximity with the device and turns off the screen when you put your device close to your face for talking calls. The Lumia 630 comes devoid of it too but it’s touchscreen detects large objects and turns off the display when your face touches the device. You won’t really get unwanted taps while making calls and we highly doubt if you’ll miss it either.

What exactly is SensorCore and the hype surrounding it?

SensorCore as the name suggests is basically a tracker. It makes use of the motion sensors by running them in the background and it tracks your movements. Something as small as a walk from your bed to washroom is recorded if the device is in your pocket/is with you. It tracks your movement and location. On the basis of all the movements, it analyzes your routine and gives you suggestions based on that. It is a fitness tracker in short and more and more applications are getting launched now which make use of software advancements coupled with hardware of the devices.

This saves the power as it runs in the background low-power mode. To sum it up, it is the thing of tomorrow and it surely is quite a useful feature.
