HMD Global scheduled an event on April 4 to launch the next-wave of Android-powered Nokia smartphones in India. When HMD sets a launch event, it remains a mystery as we do not get to know what the company is going to unveil. But this time around, the company has given a slight hint on what they're going to launch at the April 4 event. As per a tweet by Nokia Mobiles Vice President and India Head Ajey Mehta, the company is going to launch the Nokia 7 Plus in the Indian market. Yesterday, Nokia announced its deal with Kolkata Knight Riders IPL team on their sponsorship. Mehta tweeted an image about the partnership with a smartphone held by a cricketer. And the smartphone is the Nokia 7 Plus. Although he did not reveal what they're going to launch at the event, the presence of the Nokia 7 Plus in the image is pretty much enough for us to believe that the upper mid-range smartphone is making its way to the Indian market.

That said, HMD might launch the Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 8 Sirocco smartphones as well in India during the same event. It was the former which we were expecting earlier, but the Nokia 7 Plus comes as a surprise. Earlier, an image from Amazon India website popped online suggesting that the Nokia 7 Plus will be exclusive to Amazon in India, but the authenticity of the image was not known.

The Nokia 7 Plus was first launched at the MWC 2018 event in February. The price of the smartphone is claimed to be Rs 23,000 for the base variant and go up from there. The highlight of the Nokia 7 Plus is the gorgeous design and stock Android software. For the unaware, all the Nokia Android smartphones will be part of Google's Android One program. It is also expected that Google India will play some part at the Nokia April 4 event.

Also, the Nokia 7 Plus will become the first smartphone in India to launch with Snapdragon 660 SoC. The device has a beefy 3800mAh battery and offers Zeiss-brand dual rear camera setup. It also comes with Nokia OZO audio. If HMD gets the pricing right and below Rs 25,000, the Nokia 7 Plus will become the best sub Rs 25,000 smartphone in India for sure.
