HMD Global is now rolling out a new Android 9 Pie Beta update to the Nokia 7 Plus, which comes with build number v3.190. The update adds various new features including the much-awaited predictive app actions, which was absent in the earlier Android Pie Beta versions. Furthermore, the changelog states the update improves the overall stability of the handset, which means that we're inching closer to the stable update rollout for the Nokia 7 Plus. The Android 9 Pie Beta v4.1 or Developer Preview 4.1 is available for the Nokia 7 Plus via OTA and manual sideload. Both the installation methods will wipe entire data on your smartphone, including the OTA method and you've to set up your phone afresh.
Nokia 7 Plus Android 9 Pie Beta 4.1: Features
HMD Global has added some new features with this update, going by the changelog. Firstly, the major feature added by the Finnish upstart company is 'Predictive App Actions,' which is currently available on Pixel smartphones. App Actions display the most used functionality on your smartphone underneath the first row of App Drawer. For example, you contact a person way too often on WhatsApp and App Actions keep track of your usage in the background, and after some time, it will start displaying the contact icon on your app drawer, allowing you to quickly access the chat. This applies to an Uber cab booking as well as it displays your Home/Work address to make your booking hassle free.
The update also includes some optimisations to Adaptive Brightness and Adaptive Battery features. The changelog also states it also includes new system navigation, settings menu and notifications. The on-screen navigation keys now has a different look and the gesture-based navigation is smoother than the previous builds.
The new build comes with the latest Nokia Camera application pre-built, so there's no need to update the app separately by heading over to the App Store. Talking about the Nokia Camera app, it's now much faster and processes the picture instantly. HMD even simplified the user interface on demand from the users. The new Camera app also has Google Lens integration.
Nokia 7 Plus Android 9 Pie Beta 4.1: How to Install
Coming to the installation part, it's very simple. A user can head over to Nokia's Android Developer website and get their Nokia 7 Plus registered on the portal. Once the registration process is done, users will be presented with two methods of installation- one is the manual file sideload, and the other one is the OTA method. Do make a note that both the methods will wipe your data completely, so perform a backup of your data before proceeding. If you're not familiar with ROM flashing on Android smartphone, choose the OTA method. Now, wait for the update to hit your device and get it updated. Since the Nokia 7 Plus has seamless updates enabled, you just have to reboot the phone once the installation process is done. The latest OTA update weighs 1.4GB in size.
Another thing worth noting is the Nokia 7 Plus with Android 9 Pie Beta v4.1 can be used as a daily driver without any issues.
