HMD Global has announced that the pre-orders for their recently released smartphones the Nokia 8 Sirocco and the Nokia 7 Plus are open in India. The actual release date for these phones is April 30. The Nokia 8 Sirocco and the Nokia 7 Plus were released in the country previously this month. Following that release, the phones which come with Zeiss optics lens and boast of impressive specifications have been put up for pre-ordering starting today. Below we have explained in detail the specifications and pricing of both the smartphones. Both the phones will be available for purchase at prominent retail stores like Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C, Croma and Reliance Digital.The Nokia 7 Plus which is a mid-range device is set to debut at Rs 25,999 whereas the flagship Nokia 8 Siroco is priced at Rs 49,999. These phones will also be available on Flipkart and Nokia online store.
To further push the sales of the two new phones, various telecom operators are providing cashback and other related offers. The most popular one is the cashback by Airtel worth Rs 2,000 on the Nokia 7 Plus which falls under the telco’s Mera Pehla Smartphone initiative. The Nokia 8 Sirocco similarly gives prepaid Airtel users 20GB additional data on each of the first six recharges (Rs 199 and Rs 349), and postpaid subscribers will also be eligible to get complimentary 20GB per month on plans which come at Rs 399 and Rs 499 for six months. Purchasers also get a free subscription to Airtel DigitalTV which will be valid until December 31, 2018.
Some other offers on the two phones are – 10% discount on purchases made by ICICI card (revised from previous 5%). Also, there is a 25% instant discount on domestic hotels on bookings made via MakeMyTrip. EMI options for the phones will include credit cards, Bajaj FinServ, and Home Credit schemes. Besides that, the Nokia 7 Plus customers get a complimentary 12-month accidental damage insurance from Servify which will be redeemable for opening and activating a Kotak 811 savings account.
Nokia 7 Plus
The Nokia 7 Plus sports a 6-inch Full HD+ (1080x2160) IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and boots Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The phone is also eligible for monthly security patches and updates as it comes under the Android One program. Under the hood, the phone is driven by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC which comes coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM.
The Nokia 7 Plus boasts of impeccable image quality thanks to its Zeiss Optics powered camera setup. The camera is enabled with 2X optical zoom with a dual-tone LED flash and Zeiss optics. There’s a primary 12MP wide-angle sensor has an aperture of f/1.75 and a pixel size of 1.4 microns. The secondary sensor which is 13MP sensor has an aperture of f/2.6 and a pixel size of 1 microns. For selfies, the Nokia 7 Plus sports a 16MP fixed focus camera with a f/2.0 aperture, 1-micron pixels. All lenses on the phone are by Zeiss Optics.
For connectivity, the phone allows 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, USB Type-C (2.0), and a 3.5mm audio jack. The dimensions of the phone are also decent with the edges measuring to 158.38 x 75.64 x 7.99mm. The phone has 64GB internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB using a MicroSD card. The battery on the device is also impressive with packing 3,800mAh worth of stamina along with fast charging capabilities.
Nokia 8 Sirocco
The flagship phone by Nokia has 5.5-inch Quad HD+ (1440x2560) pOLED display which curves at the sides and boasts of an aspect ratio of 16:9. The display is also protected by 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. This phone also runs on Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box and is eligible to receive monthly security patches and updates which will keep the phone up to date and secure. Under the hood, the phone is being driven by the Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC which is coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM for fluid multitasking.
The Nokia 8 Sirocco also has lenses which are powered by Zeiss Optics and has quite a similar camera setup as the Nokia 7 Plus. On the rear side, there is a 12MP wide-angle sensor with a f/1.75 aperture and 1.4-micron pixels, and for a secondary sensor, there is a 13MP telephoto lens capable of 2x optical zoom with a f/2.6 aperture and 1-micron pixels. For selfies, on the front, the phone comes with 5MP fixed-focus sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and 1.4-micron pixels.
The phone comes with the same connectivity options which include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and NFC. The device measure to be 140.93x72.97x7.5mm. The battery on this device is a 3260mAh one which is has been claimed to deliver up to 22 hours of talk time and 495 hours of standby time. The Nokia 8 Sirocco differs a bit from other Nokia devices and sports 128GB internal storage which cannot be expanded.
