Nokia 5 (2017) Now Updated to Android 9 Pie, Rollout in Process

HMD Global, the Finnish upstart company, has been one of the most prominent phone manufacturers which has stayed up to date with its Android update timelines. It is worth noting that on Wednesday, we had reported about the new schedule for the Android Pie updates on Nokia phones which included the titles like Nokia 5 and Nokia 3.1 Plus. In addition to these two titles, eight other HMD Global phones are yet to receive the Android 9 Pie update. In a new Tweet, Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer of HMD Global has informed that Nokia 5 (2017) is getting the Android 9 Pie update.




HMD Global Moves Ahead According to New Update Roadmap

With the Android 9 Pie update already rolling out to Nokia 5 (2017), there are a few other HMD Global titles which are slated to receive the update this quarter. These phones include the Nokia 6, Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1 and the Nokia 2.1. It is also worth noting that the Nokia 2.1 is an Android Go smartphone which will come with all the light applications for budget range phones. Another Android Go smartphone by HMD Global, the Nokia 1 will also receive the Android 9 Pie update in the second quarter of 2019, meaning that the update will be pushed to the users sometime in April and May. The Nokia 3 is another smartphone which will receive the update around the same period.

The Nokia 5 (2017) has now started to receive the latest Android 9 Pie update from HMD as informed by the company executive, and this means that the phone will now come with updated features, new improved UI, design, and much more. Some of the notable features which the Android 9 Pie will bring onboard the Nokia 5 (2017) is the digital wellbeing dashboard which will help the users in controlling and monitoring how much time they spend in front of their phone screens. Further, more features which will make the Nokia 5 (2017) more relevant in the market will be an adaptive battery feature, something which is expected to better the battery life on the phone. Other features will include gesture-based navigation method, adaptive brightness, revamped recent apps menu and more.

Nokia 5 (2017) Users Start Receiving Latest Android Update

Like it is the case every time, the update is probably reaching out to the users in batches and as such, should be available to all Nokia 5 (2017) users in a few days. In case you want to check for the updates manually, you can go to Settings, System Updates and tap on “check for updates”. As per HMD Global’s update timeline, the Nokia 3.1 is another phone which will receive the Android 9 Pie update in the same period. Some more releases from HMD Global like Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 5.1 Plus, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco have already been updated to Android 9 Pie.
