After launching the Nokia 3310 last year, HMD Global, the Nokia brand licensee unveiled a newer 4G version of Nokia 3310 in China earlier this year. The company, however, did not reveal the processor details at time of the launch. Now, Spreadtrum Communications, a Shanghai-based semiconductor company has confirmed that the Nokia 3310 4G is powered by their Spreadtrum SC9820 chipset. The Spreadtrum SC9820 has a dual-core ARM A7 CPU with the two cores clocked at 1.2GHz. The chipset is paired with ARM Mali 400 graphics processor for 3D graphics acceleration. The chipset is reportedly the world’s first 4G feature phone chipset. The SC9820 supports TDD-LTE, FDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, and GSM four-mode network connectivity options.

The primary highlight of the Nokia 3310 4G variant is the support for 4G VoLTE voice and video calling support. It has an FWVGA display, same as the older Nokia 3310 models.

As for the Nokia 3310 4G feature phone, it retains the same design as the last year’s refreshed device. The phone features a 2.4-inch QVGA display (240 x 320 pixels) and alpha-numeric keypad on the front. It measures 117 x 52.4 x 13.35 mm and weighs 88.1grams. Along with the Spreadtrum SC9820, the device comes with 256MB of RAM and a native storage capacity of 512MB. It also supports storage expansion up to 64GB using a microSD card.

On the rear is a 2MP primary camera equipped with LED flash. Connectivity features available on the Nokia 3310 4G include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, micro USB, Bluetooth 4.0, and 3.5mm audio jack.

The Nokia 3310 4G is backed by a 1200mAh battery, which according to HMD Global offers five hours of talk time on the 4G network and 12 days of standby time. HMD Global may not launch the Nokia 3310 4G variant in the Indian market as the company is planning to bring the Banana phone, the Nokia 8110 to the country next month in collaboration with a telecom operator. The Nokia 8110 feature phone will rival with Reliance JioPhone in India. HMD Global did not launch the 3G variant of the Nokia 3310 in India too. Only the 2G variant was launched in India with a price tag of Rs 3,310.
