Reliance Jio, India's newest and fastest growing service provider, has also propelled Mukesh Ambani to lead the Forbes list of `2017 Global Game Changers'. The Forbes report says that it not only features 'game changers,' but also the people who are changing lives around the world.
Ambani shares space with Snapchat's CEO Evan Spiegel, James Dyson- the founder of home appliances startup- Dyson, and Deputy Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman, etc. Besides Evan Speigel, the co-founders of Stripe-John Collison (26) and Patrick Collison (28) are the youngest entrepreneurs to feature in the list, while African wealthy person Christo Wiese (75) is the oldest businessman to be part of the list.
The Forbes report states ‘In order to be considered for the Forbes Global Game Changers list, leaders must be running a for-profit operation with a market value of at least $1 billion that is growing and innovating better than its peers.'
A total of 25 ‘intrepid, innovative people in the business world who are thinking big and moving the needle,' people featured in the list. Out of 25; 13 people were from the United States of America alone, and three of them were from China, and Mukesh Ambani is the single individual to represent India.
Reliance Jio has changed the lives of many by providing affordable mobile broadband. The company has acquired 100 million subscribers in a very short span of time. “Oil and gas tycoon entered the country’s telecom market with a bang, offering fast internet at dirt-cheap prices. Gained 100 million customers in six months and set off a wave of consolidation in the market. Anything and everything that can go digital is going digital. India cannot afford to be left behind,' said the Forbes report on titling Ambani as the top person.
