Motorola seems to have big plans for the next year. In 2018, the Lenovo sub-brand faced a lot of challenges to stand out among the competitors and it looks like the company has realised that is working to make 2019 a better one. Motorola has been in the news for a long time now and it’s all because of the leaks and rumours about the upcoming Moto G7 series that the company is currently working on. Addition to the G7 phones, Motorola is reportedly also working on the successor to the Motorola P30 – the P40. This news comes exclusively from OnLeaks in partnership with 91mobiles. The Motorola P40 has been leaked in renders showing off the complete front and back panel design of the phone. The key highlight of this Moto phone could be the punch hole display. As of now, there are no reports when will the P40 go official and also whether the phone will come to India or not considering the predecessor of it – P30 – never hit the global markets.

A Closer Look at Motorola P40

The leaked renders of the Motorola P40 show that this will be the first Motorola phone to come with a punch hole display or in display front-facing camera like the recently launched Honor View 20, Huawei Nova 4 and Samsung Galaxy A8s. Considering more and more smartphone makers are planning to bring the punch hole display, chances of the technology ruling 2019 are high. Well, although the Motorola P40 has been showing with an in-display selfie camera in the renders there’s something different. It’s the positioning of the hole. Unlike other phones, the punch hole on the Motorola P40 is tipped to sit on the left corner of the phone.

Motorola P40: Rumoured Specifications and Features

In addition to the overall design and look of the phone, the key specifications of the Motorola P40 have also been leaked. Rumours suggest that the Motorola P40 will come packed with a 6.2-inch display and there will be no notch on the top of the screen. The renders show that the P40 will be an almost bezel-less phone, and will include pretty thin bezels on the sides. Notably, compared to all the sides the chin is slightly thicker considering it embeds the Motorola branding on it. The renders also show the phone from the sides which reveal that on the left side there will be the SIM tray, while on the right there are the Volume and Power buttons. Motorola isn’t ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack as of yet and the jack will be placed on the top edge of the phone. The P40 will also come with USB Type-C port, a speaker grille, and mic hole on the bottom.

Coming to the back panel of the phone, the Motorola P40 will feature 3D curved edges so that the users can have a good hand grip of the phone. The renders show that the back panel of the P40 will be reflective and is said to be made of glass and not plastic or metal. The P40 will sport dual camera setup on the back panel which will be aligned in a vertical fashion. The leak suggests that the P40 will come packed with a 48MP primary camera paired with dual LED flash which will sit right below the rear camera setup. The megapixel of the secondary camera of the P40 is yet to be revealed. Following the dual camera setup of the Moto phone will be a fingerprint sensor embedded in the Motorola logo as also seen on the other recently launched Motorola phones.
