While most smartphones owners are waiting for Android Oreo update on their devices, it appears some of the phones that haven’t been updated to Nougat yet. One of those devices is Moto G4 Play which was scheduled to get Nougat last year, but the update has started rolling out only now.
Motorola launched a trio of G4 branded smartphones, the G4, G4 Plus and G4 Play. While the G4 and G4 Plus got the Nougat earlier last year, the G4 Play remained without the update. To recall, Motorola even tried to push Android 7.0 Nougat update back in June, but due to some reasons, the G4 Play never got the firmware.
It looks like now Motorola has resolved those issues and officially kicked off Android 7.1.1 Nougat to the Moto G4 Play. The latest major OS update for the smartphone is now available for download to unlocked Moto G4 Play devices across the world.
A number of owners of the device on Reddit users claimed that they were able to capture the update. The OTA brings the G4 Play up to Android Nougat version 7.1.1 and also includes the November security patch. More security patches are expected to arrive for the G4 Play.
If you are interested to get your device and haven’t received the update, you need not worry. As usual, the update is rolling out in stages, so there are still many people who haven’t received the update notification.
