Xiaomi pushed the Android 10 stable update to the Redmi K20 Pro just a few weeks after the official launch of Android 10 by Google

Highlights
  • MIUI 11 for Redmi K20 Pro is based on Android 10
  • Redmi K20 Pro is Xiaomi's flagship smartphone which already got Android 10 update a few weeks ago
  • Xiaomi is rolling out the update in batches

Xiaomi is on a roll at the moment as the company is pushing stable MIUI 11 update to a plethora of smartphones. Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone, the Redmi K20 Pro, is now receiving Android 10-based MIUI 11 stable update in India. To recall, Xiaomi promised the Redmi K20 Pro would get the update in the second phase which starts on November 4, but it seems like the update is already ready and the company has begun the rollout for the first batch of K20 Pro users. Notably, Xiaomi also pushed MIUI 11 stable update to other phones like the Redmi K20, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi Note 7 and the Poco F1. The update for the Redmi K20 Pro will also be a staged one, so chances are you may not receive it right away. And the best part is the MIUI 11 for K20 Pro is based on Android 10, unlike the Redmi K20 which is still on Android 9 Pie.

Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro MIUI 11 Stable Update is Based on Android 10

Xiaomi pushed the Android 10 stable update to the Redmi K20 Pro just a few weeks after the official launch of Android 10 by Google. So the MIUI 11 stable update for K20 Pro based on the latest iteration of Android should not surprise many. But what surprised a lot of users is the MIUI 11 update for Redmi K20- the younger sibling of the K20 Pro. Redmi K20 was the first Xiaomi phone in India to get the stable MIUI 11 update, but it was based on Android 9 Pie. Even the Poco F1 which started receiving the update since yesterday is still on Android 9 Pie. This is known from Xiaomi, but the fact that even popular Xiaomi phones are still on Android 9 Pie will disappoint a lot of users out there.

As for the Redmi K20 Pro, the MIUI 11 stable update weighs 2.2GB in size and you will require a stable Wi-Fi connection to download the update. We have checked for the MIUI 11 update on our Redmi K20 Pro unit, but no luck. However, a lot of users are posting on Twitter regarding the update arrival on their K20 Pro, so you can manually check for the MIUI 11 stable update by heading over to Settings>My Device>System Update.

If the update did not reach your phone, you would have to wait for a while for Xiaomi to begin the broader rollout which will happen only after ten days or two weeks as the company takes feedback from the users who receive the update.

MIUI 11 Second Phase Rollout Seems to Have Begun

Xiaomi announced the entire rollout schedule of MIUI 11 at the Redmi Note 8 Pro launch event on October 16. The Redmi K20 Pro, despite being the company’s flagship smartphone, is part of the second batch of devices which will receive the MIUI 11 update starting November 4. This surprised a lot of K20 Pro users as the Redmi K20 was in the first batch and became the first Xiaomi phone to pick up MIUI 11 stable update in India.

Other Xiaomi smartphones which are part of second batch MIUI 11 rollout are Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 5, Redmi 5A, Redmi 5, Redmi Y1, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Y2, Redmi Y1 Lite, Mi Mix and Mi Max. The second phase of MIUI 11 rollout will begin on November 4 and will end on November 12.

Wait till everyone updates and talks about issues, if there are any.
