It seems like that Micromax is on a spree of launching budget smartphones with Android 5.0 Lollipop. After recently launching the Canvas Spark, the Indian smartphone brand is all geared up to launch another budget Android smartphone in the lower-end price category.

Canvas Play

The upcoming handset from Micromax will be named as Micromax Canvas Play and will bear the model number Q355. It will come with a 5.5-inch FWVGA display, which may seem a bit too stretched. Under the hood, there will be the same 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582M processor which is used in the Canvas Spark, along with 1GB of RAM.

Micromax Canvas Play Specifications

  • 5-inch LCD display, 854 x 480 pixels
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system
  • MediaTek MT6582M SoC, 1.3GHz quad-core CPU, and 1GB RAM
  • 8GB of internal storage and microSD card slot (up to 32GB)
  • 5-megapixel rear camera, autofocus, LED flash, and VGA front camera
  • Dual-SIM, 3G + 2G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, A-GPS, micro-USB port, and 3.5 mm headphone jack
  • 2,820mAh battery

The smartphone will come with a free flip cover and pre-loadeded with AskMe, Hotstar, PayTM, Quikr, and Snapdeal apps. This one may be a Snapdeal exclusive like its sibling Canvas Spark. There’s no word regarding its pricing and availability as of now but the official launch wouldn’t be far enough either. Expect it to be priced between Rs 5,000-6,000.
