Selfie-Centric Micromax Canvas 2 Plus (2018) Launched as an Offline Exclusive Model at Rs 8,999

Micromax is yet again looking to get back into the game as the company has now launched its second smartphone in less than a month, dubbed as the Micromax Canvas 2 Plus (2018). The 2018 edition of the Canvas 2 Plus is the successor to Canvas 2 Plus smartphone that was launched long back. Going by the 2018 trend, Micromax has added an 18:9 display, Face Unlock, and now, the device has been launched as a selfie-focused one. Micromax has added a selfie-flash and 8MP shooter on the front. The smartphone will be exclusively available across major retail stores in India at Rs 8,999 starting today. Micromax has launched the smartphone in two colour options- Jet Black and Matte Black.

Vikas Jain, Co-Founder, Micromax Informatics said, "Over the last few years, as the Indian handset and telecom industry has undergone a dynamic shift, the focus of consumers is shifting from just the hardware to overall connected experience. Therefore, to address the consumer needs, we are coming up with Canvas 2 Plus with compelling features like Infinity screen, Face Unlock feature, compelling battery etc. We expect Canvas 2 Plus to yet again set a benchmark and revolutionise the overall smartphone adoption."

Coming to the specifications of the smartphone, the Micromax Canvas 2 Plus (2018) sports a 5.7-inch HD+ display that carries a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Micromax, in a press statement, stated that the phone comes with a 1.3GHz quad-core SoC under the hood, which works in tandem with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There's a microSD card for storage expansion up to 128GB.

As mentioned, the 2018 Edition of the Canvas 2 Plus masquerades as a selfie-centric smartphone as it comes with an 8MP shooter on the front along with selfie flash. Micromax has added a Portrait mode as well, and of course, there's a Beauty mode for all the selfie lovers out there. To the back, the homegrown company has added a 13MP shooter which comes with features such as Time Lapse and Beauty mode.

On top of these, Micromax has added the trendy Face Unlock functionality to the smartphone. There's a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner too. Lastly, the phone is backed by a 4000mAh battery and it comes with Android Nougat out of the box. Micromax stated the phone supports 22 regional languages.

Connectivity options in the handset include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and a micro USB port.
