Micromax will soon launch a new 4G feature phone dubbed as Micromax Bharat 1 (2018) in India. The upcoming feature phone will be a successor to the company's Bharat 1 device, which it launched last year in collaboration with BSNL. The phone is expected to be priced under Rs 2,000 and Micromax will put the device against the popular Reliance JioPhone, which was said to be sold in a massive number last quarter. This Bharat 1 (2018) will also compete with the likes of Nokia 8110 which is expected to reach Indian shores next month. It's unknown whether the 2018 Edition of Bharat 1 replaces the first-gen Bharat 1 or not.

A report from 91mobiles cites that the Micromax Bharat 1 (2018) will retail under Rs 2,000 and the publication managed to get the news from a retail store person. The report also has an image of the upcoming Bharat 1 (2018) feature phone, which shows the design of the phone. The design of the Bharat 1 (2018) is identical to the early Nokia feature phones such as the Nokia 2690. The model number of this phone could be V409, and it might offer a front-facing camera too.

The first generation Bharat 1 ran a forked version of Android; the same is expected with the Bharat 1 (2018) device also. To the rear, there's a camera sensor along with loudspeaker grille.

The report further added that this feature phone would offer Live TV functionality, which is also visible in the marketing material and it will support 22 regional languages. The display size on the phone is unknown, but it' said to be a colour display.

The Micromax Bharat 1 (2018) will be made available in different colour options, besides the red colour variant displayed in the image above.

As stated, the Micromax Bharat 1 was introduced in collaboration with state-run telecom operator BSNL, and there might be a similar offer for the Bharat 1 (2018) feature phone as well. Its been hardly six months since we first saw the Bharat 1 and it's surprising that Micromax is already working on the successor. That said, Micromax must be feeling the pressure of the fact that Reliance Retail has become the leading feature phone brand in India. The JioPhone is still said to be selling in a massive number. We're drawing close to the end of first quarter in 2018. Post that, all the research firms will reveal the shipment details of brands in Q1 2018.
