Digital Empowerment Foundation, a Delhi based not-for-profit organisation initiated mBillionth Award South Asia with support of Vodafone in year 2010. mBillionth is a unique dais that recognises and honors mobile/telecom innovations based across 8 South Asian countries.It provides a wider network of alliances and partnership building for the advocacy of mobiles for mass empowerment and inclusive growth in the region.

Digital Empowerment Foundation in past one year initiated programmes like “Mobiles for Good”, “Women & Mobile Innovation”, “Digital Literacy Program” & “mPower Forum” with various partners like Vodafone, Spice Digital, Vodafone India Foundation, Eksoch & OnMobile etc.

The nominations are now open to all the mobile initiatives aiming to scale new height in Social development. “The mBillionth Award is a great platform to demonstrate the power of mobile and recognize the talents of those who are able to deploy ICT in innovative ways to help build the digital divide and create new opportunities for Indian society at large.

The power of mobile in creating sectors”, quotes Laura Turkington, Director– Vodafone India Foundation. We are inviting Mobile Entrepreneurs, Application Developers, VAS providers, Innovators, Policy advocators in Telecom, Telco players to join the platform to be a part of the journey of Acknowledging Innovations in Mobile & Telecom World for the development of Content/applications for the benefit of Masses.

Nominations can be submitted before 30th April 2012 based on an array of categories targeting mobile inclusion for growth.
