Lenovo has finally started promoting the upcoming launch of its premium smartphone, the Vibe X3 in India. The launch event will be held on January 27. Lenovo announced the Vibe X3 smartphone in November along with its lighter variant, named as Vibe X3 Lite. The company has not revealed whether it will be bringing the ‘lighter’ variant to the Indian market as well. Pricing and availability details are still under wraps, which will be revealed at the launch event only.
Interestingly, the Lenovo Vibe X3 could rival the YU Yutopia, but YU's recently launched device offers a much better 5.2-inch Quad-HD (QHD) display with its under 25k pricing. Whereas, the Vibe X3 comes with a 5.5-inch full-HD display. Also, the YU Yutopia comes equipped with “retina proof” technology that hides the individual dots on the screen even when held 9.5-inches away from the eye. There are many other specs segments such as RAM, where Yutopia (4GB of RAM) scores better than the Vibe X3 (3GB of RAM). It would be interesting to see how Lenovo prices it for the Indian market, as it clearly has a tough competitor.
Contrary to its predecessor, the Vibe X3 does not feature a rectangular design. It has a curvier design and is good to use for single-hand operations. As mentioned above, the phone comes in two variant that have the same outlook, but different specifications. The variant with lower specifications is the Vibe X3 Lite. The display for the both the variants stays the same, i.e. 5.5-inch Full HD display with 1080p resolution.
The Vibe X3 comes powered by a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM, and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. It features a 21-megapixel primary camera with dual-tone LED flash, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), Sony IMX230 sensor, 4K video recording along with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It supports connectivity options such as Hybrid dual-SIM, 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-FI, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, and Fingerprint Sensor. Backing the Vibe X3 is a 3,600mAh battery.
Moreover, there are certain changes in the design of both the variants, the dual tone LED flash is placed below the camera sensor on the Vibe X3. Whereas, on the Vibe X3 Lite, it is placed on the right of the camera sensor. The back cover is removable for the Vibe X3 and is non-removable for the Vibe X3 Lite. The 64GB Vibe X3 was launched in China for a price of 2,999 Yuan (approx. Rs. 31,000) while the 32GB version was priced at 2,499 Yuan (approx. Rs 25,800). The Vibe X3 Lite was priced lower than the Vibe X3, at 1,899 Yuan (approx.Rs 19,600).
