JioCinema app has been one of the most popular offerings in Reliance Jio’s application portfolio. The app enabled streaming of many movies and videos with Reliance Jio’s content partners. In a new move, the parent telecom company, Reliance Jio has signed a partnership deal with Disney India which will mean that users of JioCinema will be able to stream Disney movies on the Jio Cinema app in the coming days. The application will now have a dedicated section catering to the Disney content. It’s noteworthy that JioCinema will have a lot of material from Disney since Disney includes many production houses like Disney Classics, Pixar animation, Marvel and StarWars, etc.

Dedicated Section for Disney in JioCinema

Regarding this new collaboration, Reliance Jio issued a statement, “JioCinema and Disney India have come together to offer timeless stories and beloved characters from the biggest brands in storytelling – Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucas films to Jio users across age groups.” The new partnership will ensure that the JioCinema app will now have a dedicated section to Disney which will be easily accessible from the home page itself. The Disney content which will be available for the subscribers will include movies, animation, series and shorts.

Previously, because of an enormous range of content from Reliance Jio, JioCinema app users had difficulty navigating through all the movies and videos. However, to resolve this problem Reliance Jio has also introduced a sub ecosystem for Disney movies and content inside the JioCinema app only. Subscribers will be able to watch movies from Disney, Marvel, Pixar or Star Wars universe. Further, an exciting feature will allow the users to navigate through the content based on characters.

Popular Disney movies like The Jungle Book, The Lion King and the all-time hits like the tales of Disney Princesses like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, etc. will now be very readily available for the subscribers. Also, the content across the Jio Cinema app will encompass international characters like Mickey Mouse, Roadster Racers, DuckTales, and also, India-specific characters like Gaju Bhai and Simple Samosa.

Disney Likely to Set Up Its Own Streaming Platform

This new partnership with Reliance Jio of Disney to stream its content on the JioCinema platform seems to be an interesting decision on Disney’s part. Disney is working on its own platform to stream its movies and other content. The company is also of the intention to withdraw its content from the popular streaming service Netflix. The streaming service of Disney which is Disney+ has also got a token website which contains the logos of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic. However, this new partnership with Jio is a small digression from Disney’s existing plans. What might have convinced Disney to go for this partnership could probably be the massive number of active Reliance Jio subscribers.
