Apple is expected to bid farewell to the LCD (liquid crystal display) screens for iPhones from 2025. The company is reportedly going to shift to OLED (organic light-emitting diode) screens. This isn't expected just for the Pro models but for all iPhone models. OLED screens are what every major tech company is going for in its premium products. From TVs to phones, OLED is going to be the norm for every premium device. Apple is also looking to do the same, according to Japan's Nikkei paper.

The report mentioned that this move will exclude Sharp Corp and Japan Display from Apple's mobile business. The company has already started placing orders for OLED displays for the upcoming iPhone SE models from China's BOE Technology and South Korea's LG Display.

The first time Apple used an OLED display for its iPhone was in 2017 for the iPhone X. However, since then, the company only decided to use the OLED panel in its premium devices. The iPad Pro models launched recently in May also now have an OLED variant. In a couple of days, Apple is going to launch the iPhone 16 series for consumers across the globe.
The iPhone 16 series Pro models are expected to come with the thinnest bezels ever on an iPhone. It will be interesting to see how that pans out look-wise. Apple's event is scheduled for September 9, 2024, and alongside iPhones, we expect the company to launch new Watch models as well.
