The smartphone competition in India is extreme, especially as Chinese brands dominate the market with competitive pricing. One brand that has stood tall amidst the tech-focused and price-sensitive Indian market is Apple. While Samsung and other OEMs (original equipment makers) target both affordable and premium segments, Apple doesn't do that. Apple is all focused on the ultra-premium segment in India. However, Apple does target the slightly more "affordable" premium segment users with its iPhone SE series.

The company doesn't pour too much resources into its SE iPhones, and it's likely because the regular new iPhones bring more profits to the table. The last time Apple launched an iPhone SE was the iPhone SE 3 in 2022. Now the next iPhone SE, which is the iPhone SE 4 is likely going to come next year's summer in India and the global markets.
Rumours online point towards a March 2025 launch for the iPhone SE 4. The device is likely to come with a larger 6.06-inch OLED display compared to the 4.7-inch screen in the iPhone SE 3. For the first time, Apple might use its own 5G modem in an iPhone, and that too for an SE series device. This development was shared by IceUniverse, citing Kuo. Apple had long planned to replace the 5G modem from Qualcomm.

Apple is also expected to integrate the iPhone SE 4 with support for Face ID. As for the design, Apple is likely going for the iPhone 14's body, which to be honest, isn't bad. The device would definitely launch under Rs 50,000 in India, and would become a compelling option for users looking to upgrade to an iPhone that's more budget-friendly and "new".
It will be interesting to note if the iPhone SE 4 supports Apple Intelligence (AI). Apple has already achieved record revenues in the recent quarter. A new iPhone, that too with the body of iPhone 14, Apple Intelligence (if included), Face ID support, and more could entice users to upgrade to new iPhones. This would definitely be a push for Apple in the country.
