All the iPhone 16 series models will support Apple Intelligence. Apple has confirmed that the new iPhone 16 devices will run on iOS 18 out of the box. Apple Intelligence was again showcased at the Apple event on September 9, 2024. It will change the way users interact with an iPhone forever. However, it won't be available just yet.
Apple Intelligence will start rolling out in the US starting next month with the iOS 18.1. It will also rollout for the Macs with the macOS Sequoia 15.1. No mention of when it will be available in India yet.
Amazing Processors -
iPhone 16 series is powered by thenew A18 processors. To be precise, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus has the A18 while the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max has A18 Pro chips.
The difference is that A18 has a 5-core GPU while the A18 Pro has 6-core GPU. The A18 family of chips are better in performance (CPU and GPU) than the A17 Pro used in the previous generation iPhone 15 Pro devices. The all new upgraded neural engine on the A18 Pro along with a new image signal processor will allow users to get a better camer experience and AI experience on the iPhone 16 Pro devices.
Camera Updates are just WOW -
For the first time, the regular iPhones (iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus) have a 2x telephoto camera, 24MP image output, macro photography support and spatial video recording. Apple said that iPhone 16 supports 5x optical zoom and can record at up to 4K 60 fps.
With the iPhone 16 Pro, there's again an upgraded camera system with a 48MP ultra-wide telephoto and a 48MP wide-angle camera with 48MP macro photography. For the first time, an iPhone can now record in 4K 120fps. Also, the audio can be edited directly on the iPhone for the first time. There are new editing capabilities for users with the iPhone 16 series. The optical zoom supported on the iPhone 16 Pro Max is 10x.

The battery is bigger now, in fact, Apple said that the iPhone 16 Pro Max has the best battery life amongst any iPhone ever. Also, the bezels on the iPhone 16 Pro models are thinner now. No more alert sliders on the iPhones, and the USB 3 available on the iPhone 16 Pro models supports 20x faster transfers.
Display -
Yes, not to anyone's surprise, the non-Pro models still feature a 60Hz refresh rate display. The 120hz Pro Motion is still reserved for the Pro Models. Also, the AoD (Always on Display) is still only reserved for the Pro iPhones. There's support for 2000nits of peak brightness and 1600nits of typical brightness.
The iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch display while the iPhone 16 Plus has a 6.7-inch display. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max come with a 6.3 and 6.9-inch display respectively.
