After completing the fastest 5G rollout in the world, India is looking at 6G now. While commercial deployments of 6G are still about four to five years away, the research and development has started. India has also tied up with many foreign institutions and governments to promote the research in 6G. To become a developed nation, India is looking at 6G as a necessary bridge. Telecom secretary Neeraj Mittal said that 6G rollout will provide the growth that India needs to become a developed nation.

According to a PTI report, Mittal said, "5G technology has been already rolled out. We are now planning for 6G. All of them will spur the growth in achieving the developed nation status that we are yearning for." Mittal was speaking at a public relations industry event Prana.
The Indian government also recently replaced the 150-year-old Telegraph Act with a new telecom act meant to promote growth in the sector and aid India in becoming a developed nation. All the telecom operators are not only rolling out networks but creating an ecosystem of smart products that can fuel innovation and growth for the country.

5G is still yet to reach the deep corners of India. The work for that is ongoing. But almost in every city and town in India, 5G can be experienced in some areas if not all.
