Subscriber base rises by half a million in a month as rural adoption nearly matches urban uptake; Jio and Airtel post similar additions.

India 5G FWA Subscriptions Cross 10 Million with Near-Equal Urban–Rural Split in November 2025
India’s wireless 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) subscriber base crossed the 10-million mark in November 2025, rising to 10.41 million at the end of the month from 9.91 million in October, reflecting a net addition of about 0.50 million subscribers during the month, according to TRAI's Telecom Subscription Data as of November 30, 2025, released on December 31, 2025.

Urban–Rural Distribution Almost Even

Urban subscribers accounted for 5.32 million of the total 5G FWA connections, while rural subscribers stood close behind at 5.09 million. As a result, the urban and rural shares of total 5G FWA subscribers were 51.11 per cent and 48.89 per cent respectively, indicating an almost even distribution between the two segments.

Jio and Airtel Add Similar 5G FWA Subscribers

Among operators, Bharti Airtel added about 0.25 million (251,095) 5G FWA subscribers during November, taking its total base to 2.77 million. Reliance Jio added a similar number of subscribers at around 0.25 million (250,274), expanding its 5G FWA base to 7.65 million by the end of the month.

Jio UBR FWA Shows Strong Urban Skew

Reliance Jio has also been reporting its Unlicensed Band Radio (UBR) FWA subscriber numbers separately since August 2025. The UBR FWA subscriber base stood at 3.19 million at the end of November, after net additions of around 0.35 million during the month.

The UBR FWA segment remains predominantly urban, with 2.26 million subscribers in urban areas and 0.93 million in rural areas. Urban users accounted for 70.95 per cent of total UBR FWA subscribers, while rural users made up the remaining 29.05 per cent, highlighting stronger adoption of the service in cities.
