Prepaid War: Idea Cellular Offers 28GB Data, Unlimited Voice Calls With its Rs 159 Plan

Right after Vodafone introducing the Rs 159 prepaid plan, Idea Cellular also came up with the same because the telco is looking to unify its tariff portfolio for the new entity Vodafone Idea Limited. Vodafone introduced the Rs 159 prepaid plan in some of its 4G circles but as an open market plan, but that’s not the case with Idea Cellular; The telco has unveiled this plan in its popular circles but as a segmented offer valid only for select users, like how Airtel is offering most of its new tariff plans. Another thing worth noting is the benefits of this new plan from Idea Cellular because it carries the same benefit as Vodafone’s Rs 159 prepaid recharge. After recharging, users will get 28GB of data, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMSes per day.

Idea Cellular Rs 159 Prepaid Recharge: Details and Benefits

Talking about the benefits offered by this new plan, it ships with 28GB of 2G/3G/4G data which will spread across 1GB data per day for the entire validity period of 28 days. Alongside the data benefit, users will also get unlimited local, STD and national roaming calling with a limitation. Despite launching VoLTE across major circles in the country, Idea Cellular is still limiting the voice calls to 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week, which is underwhelming, to say the least. Lastly, the telco is also giving daily 100 SMSes for 28 days.

Idea Cellular Rs 159 Recharge is a Segmented Offer

Another thing which is worth noticing is the new plan from Idea Cellular is a segmented one and not an open market offer. While Vodafone launched the Rs 159 prepaid recharge as an open market in some circles, the same doesn’t apply with Idea Cellular’s plan as the telco decided to launch it as a segmented plan. If you want to check the availability of this plan on your Idea prepaid mobile number, head over to the company’s website or mobile app and check for the special offers associated with your number.

Idea Cellular Unifying its Tariff Portfolio With Vodafone

As you might be aware of by now, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular merged to form Vodafone Idea Limited which is currently the leading telecom service provider in the country. The combined entity became operational very recently, and right now, the telcos are in the process of getting everything together- including network infrastructure, tariff plans and employee base. Vodafone has launched a slew of prepaid plans in recent times and to make them available to its users, Idea Cellular is following its footsteps.

For example, Vodafone launched the Rs 159 prepaid recharge long back and Idea Cellular introduced it now. Likewise, we might see Idea coming with recharges such as Rs 279, Rs 189 and so on in the near future as Vodafone is already offering them to the customers.

Guys, VIL has started trials on 900 MHz band for 4G in Mumbai. It will be replicated to other circles shortly with circles having high penetration of 2G users in the last .
So Mumbai user using Samsung devices can lock to band 8 and check and confirm

When 3G from band 1 will be shifted to 4G?

Upgrade to 4G smartphone. Even BSNL isn’t expanding 3G network.

@Nikhil 4G in band 1 would definitely take time. In 10 circles VIL is still operating 3G services in just 5MHz (Band 1). Even if they deploy 4G using 5MHz it would be of no use. In next coming auction I don’t think so Vodafone would bid for spectrum except band 41 in remaining circles..!!

They should try to grab up everything in band 41 and Band 1. From whatever I heard they are closed to switch off 3G since start of 2019. No point in keeping 3G on. They won’t be successful if they keep 3G on for another year and half. From Idea team in Pune, I came to know that they will deploy 70-80% of spectrum for 4G and remaining for 2G. No 3G by Vodafone-Idea since Diwali 2019. Already Vodafone providing 4G on band 1 in some circles like Tamil Nadu and UP West/East. In Mumbai it is of use as… Read more »

Only Karnataka and Tamil Nadu don’t have band 41 presence which they will get eventually.

Nikhil Mumbai-Pune

20Mhz of band 1 will be promising for Vodafone-Idea.

Nikhil Mumbai-Pune

chief executive officer Gopal Vittal said the redeployment would be completed in three-to-four months.

This is what Gopal said.

Have patience.

Refarming is not easy thing.

They have to care about 2G customers also.

They should have reformed band 1 before in my honest opinion.

Nikhil Mumbai-Pune

Vodafone will move everything to 4G in next eight months in Mumbai. Band 1(10Mhz)+Band 3(10Mhz)+band 41(20Mhz)+Band 8(10Mhz). Rest on 2G.
