Idea Cellular, the country’s third largest telecom carrier by subscribers, has started offering 1GB 4G/3G data for as low as Rs 149 through USSD special offer in Kerala. Compared to standard data pack cost of Rs 249 for 1GB 4G/3G, Idea is offering Rs 100 discount through the special offer.
Idea customers can check their USSD special offer by dialing *122#. According to a release by the company, Idea 4G network covers 53% of the total population in Kerala across all 14 districts. Recently the operator has announced plans to open 100 new company retail stores to increase 4G uptake.
Idea who is currently the market leader in the circle is facing stiff competition from its peers Vodafone and Airtel. Vodafone has also started its 3G service in the circle and is expanding its 4G network. Similarly Airtel has also expanded its 4G network to cover all major towns in Kerala. Through special offer, Idea is able to give custom tailored plans to its subscriber without the need of bringing down the tariff as such.
Idea has surpassed its peers Vodafone and Airtel whose 4G services are limited to few cities in the circle. With its 4G service now covering 102 towns, Idea has the largest 4G network in Kerala. Idea already has the widest 3G network in the circle has further made it position strong as the market leader. Idea Cellular was the first to come up with double data on all 3G/4G data packs above 1GB. This was soon followed by Airtel by offering similar double data offer on selected 4G plans
