HTC is set to gift this world with a new premium Android smartphone this october, the M8_EYE which is essentially a 13-megapixel version of the current generation HTC One M8 which sports a 4-megapixel UltraPixel Duo camera. The EYE name was in fact being referred to a selfie-centric camera phone which is expected to lock horns with the Sonys Xperia C3. We feel that HTC will not tinker much with the M8 hardware except for the camera sensor. The camera unit will be a 13-megapixel camera sensor, just like the one which is used in the HTC Desire 816 instead of an UltraPixel camera sensor which is used in the HTC One M7 and the HTC One M8.
This might be due to the fact that HTCs Ultrapixel camera unit failed to impress with its image quality as compared to other premium phones like Samsung Galaxy S5. Also, the UltraPixel units have been facing some hardware issues such as the pink or blue tint. The Eye will come with Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box and with the HTCs Sense 6 overlay. The 13-megapixel Duo camera might be an attempt to spruce up the HTC sales as consumers are finding it difficult to cave in for the UltraPixel technology.
