HTC Desire 616 with octa core processor launched

HTC is working day and night to strengthen its mid range smartphones and has just announced the Desire 616 handset which is the company’s first octa core offering. The processor is the one found at the heart of a slew of other budget octa core handsets. Its pricing has been kept quite nominal at $298 which translates into roughly Rs 14,400. Let us take a look at its specifications:

  • 5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720  pixels
  • 1.4 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6592 processor
  • Mali 450-MP4 GPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5.5 UI on top of it
  • 4GB of internal storage capacity which is expandable by another 32GB with a microSD card
  • 8MP primary camera with LED flash and a 2MP secondary camera
  • 3G (HSPA+), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with aGPS and Dual SIM connectivity
  • 2000 mAh battery
  • Grey and White colours

The smartphone even if priced below Rs 15,000 would lose out to the recently launch Xiaomi Mi3. And it runs on an older version of Android too. It will have HTC’s brand image in its favour to help it get an edge over other Chinese and Indian smartphone OEMs.

Its internal memory is full with junks like Alsphalt, bollywood hungama, eBuddy xms, htc hub, htc likes, ndtv, ndtv cricket, pro cricket, saavan, uno, etc.etc. Even with external memory card it is impossible to download and install applications from Google Play store ! I had given it to the shop and reloaded with an updated version still the junks are there and these apps can’t be deleted.. That time had paid Rs.9000/- for this cell and now nobody will take. Now a days all the makers come out with new… Read more »

Are u kidding me dude I bought the same HTC Explorer (Pico) 2 years ago and it is still working absolutely fine I just love that phone its overall build and feel is what makes it good to hold in hand and talking about the crap apps, at that time this problem was with every brand. I have got it rooted and what not works on it from android 2.3 to 4.4. Presently using MIUI 4 based on android 4.0 and its super smooth.
