At Rs 17,999, Honor 9N Becomes the Second Cheapest Smartphone After Realme 1 to Offer 128GB Storage

Honor has officially launched the successor to Honor 9 Lite smartphone in India, namely, the Honor 9N. It’s the same Honor 9i (2018) smartphone that was unveiled a couple of weeks back in China. The Honor 9N comes in four attractive colour options, sports dual rear cameras, has a 19:9 display on the front with a notch and comes in 128GB storage option. The Honor 9N is the second cheapest smartphone with 128GB of internal storage after the Oppo Realme 1. Prices of the Honor 9N starts at Rs 11,999 and goes all the way up to Rs 17,999. It’s a Flipkart exclusive handset in the sub-continent. With the Honor 9N, the company is going after the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, but the major letdown for the handset is the same Kirin 659 SoC it comes with. On July 26, Honor’s parent company, Huawei is launching the Nova 3i smartphone in India with the upgraded Kirin 710 SoC.

Honor 9N Specifications and Features
As mentioned, the Honor 9N is a successor to the Honor 9 Lite, and there are huge similarities between both the phones. The newly launched 9N comes with a 5.84-inch Full HD+ display, carrying a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. The 9N also has a 2.5D curved glass on top of the display. The Honor 9 Lite, on the other hand, came with an 18:9 display without a notch. Powering the handset is the octa-core Kirin 659 chipset, which comes paired with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB of internal storage. For storage hoggers, Honor has also added a microSD card slot with which they can expand the storage up to 256GB.

At the launch event, Honor also confirmed that the Honor 9N will receive GPU Turbo feature with an OTA update. The 9N sports dual rear cameras of a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary depth sensor. Up front, users get a 16MP shooter. Both the front and rear cameras offer Portrait mode. As for the software, the 9N boots Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 out of the box, but the EMUI 8.1 update based on Android 8.1 Oreo is expected to be rolled out very soon.

Connectivity options on the handset include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and a Micro USB port. The phone is armed with a 3000mAh battery and lacks fast charging support. The Honor 9N has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and it also ships with a software-based Face Unlock feature. The 9N measures 7.7mm in thickness and weighs 152 grams.

Honor 9N Pricing and Availability
The smartphone has been priced at Rs 11,999 for the 3GB RAM+32GB internal storage option. It comes in two other variants with 4GB RAM+64GB of storage at Rs 13,999 and 4GB RAM+128GB of internal storage at Rs 17,999. Honor should have added 6GB RAM to the 128GB storage option. 659 is meh. Helio P60 is the bomb. A73 cores in P60. Kirin 659 uses 8xA53 which sucks. The Realme 1 is a way better phone than the 9n unless the 9n came with Kirin 710 which actually uses A73 cores in it.
