Google has sent out media invitations for a press event which will be held in India on September 15. The press invite doesn't mention anything about the event, though it says "block your date". We guess that they might be launching Android One smartphones in India during the event. We have already discussed about Android One and how Google is trying to standardise the entry-level Android smartphone market.

Micromax, Spice and Karbonn are the first brands to opt in to the Android One program. Android One powered smartphones are expected to feature stock Android UI and the OEMs will be able to customise the UI through applications from Play Store. This would help Google in releasing faster software updates to these devices.
