Google will be unveiling the next-generation Pixel phones along with some other hardware products at its event on October 9. The search giant has pushed media invites for an event which is to scheduled to take place in New York City on October 9. To recall, for the last two years, Google launched its products on October 4, but this year, the event will take place a five days later. The invite doesn't reveal what Google is planning to launch, but it gave a slight hint about the Pixel 3 devices unveiling with a simple “I <3 NY” phrase. However, by now, we all know that Google will be launching its Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones at the event, but what else will be launched is the biggest question now.
Google October 9 Event: No Pixel-Branded Smartwatch This Year
Google already confirmed that it needs some more time to completely build a smartwatch of its own, which means that we won't see any Pixel-branded smartwatch at this year's event. However, it's rumoured that Google will announce a newer version of Wear OS with a whole new interface, better functionalities and new Watch faces.
Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL: Rumoured Specifications, Features
Like the last two Google events, the Pixel devices will steal the show. Everyone are super excited to see what the Pixel 3's camera will offer, considering the fact that Pixel 2's camera is still one of the best in the market. The Pixel 3 devices will surely pack better hardware as the leaked camera samples already suggested, but what else will Google offer is the primary question.
Going by the leaks, the Pixel 3 will have 18:9 5.3-inch display, so it will be a compact smartphone. The Pixel 3 XL, on the flip side, will boast of a 6.2-inch screen with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a notch. Going by the leaks, the Pixel 3 is the best-looking devices of the two. Both the phones will pack similar internal hardware- Snapdragon 845 SoC, up to 4GB of RAM, and they'll boot Android 9 Pie out of the box.
The camera hardware will also be similar on both the phones. The Pixel 3 might have a smaller battery, whereas the Pixel 3 XL will come with a larger battery. At the moment, we don't have any rumoured battery capacities though. Also, Google might be offering wireless charging on both the phones. And yes, they'll lack the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Google October 9 Event: Other Expected Announcements
Alongside the Pixel phones, Google might take wraps off a whole range of products. Last year's Google event saw the unveiling of the first Pixelbook, Google Home Mini and Home Max, Pixel Buds earphones and much more. The same might continue this year too. Will we see an upgraded Pixelbook dubbed as Pixelbook 2 or Upgraded versions of Google Home Mini and Home Mini? We'll have to wait until October 9 for that.
