Google Pixel 2 XL is the flagship device from Google for the year 2017. Airtel has recently rolled out an offer on its online store wherein the device is available for the initial price of Rs 15,599. The original price of the phone outside of the website is Rs 56,999 for the Pixel 2 XL - 64GB variant, which means that the device is available for the discount of Rs 41,499 on the MRP. Even then, the device has some formality attached to it since it comes with a monthly payment of Rs 2,799 per month for a time period of 18 months. The monthly EMI on the phone is Rs 2,799 per month which totals to an amount of Rs 50,382 over the 18-month period. However, the plus point with this offer is the fact that buyers will get access to 50 GB per month, coupled with unlimited calling benefits from Airtel. There are going to be additional benefits for the users like Amazon Prime membership for one year, which is worth Rs 999 per year. Airtel will also ship handset damage Protection for 12 months. Below we discuss whether or not this offer is worth the hype and also whether it is a worthy buy for your bucks.

Although the one-time payment in this deal might seem like an attractive catch, the monthly payment of Rs 2,799 for the long span of 18 months seems like too much amount to spare. Users should also keep in mind that Airtel offers Rs 649 per month plan on postpaid in which the telco bundles 90GB of data in total which is a lot more than the plan being bundled with the Pixel 2 XL. Also, Airtel has got another postpaid plan which is billed at Rs 499, offering 40GB data per month along with calling and other benefits.

The only part of the offer which the customers might find viable is the one-time payment of Rs 15,599. The rest of the cost has been distributed on easy monthly payments spanning over 18 months. The less pricey version of the Pixel series, which the Pixel 2 is also retailing on the Airtel online store for a one-time upfront payment of Rs 12,599, down from the price of Rs 53,999 for the 128GB storage version. The Pixel 2 is also up for grabs with a similar monthly payment plan of Rs 2,799 for 18 months, much similar to the pricier Pixel 2 XL.

Must Keep in Mind T&C Before Buying
Since buying this device would require the users to sign up for a loan scheme, they would have to check their eligibility for the loan along with giving their Aadhaar information for e-KYC by the company. Users will also have to subscribe to Airtel’s postpaid plan which is a mandatory step.

The terms and conditions on the website read, “You may purchase a Device on Offer by making a specified down-payment for the Device and availing the Loan for the remaining value of the Device from the Lender, which shall be payable by You through EMI(s).”

It is essential that users keep in mind that since it is a loan scheme, they will have to pay the instalments regularly every month for 18 months straight beside making the initial down-payment. Defaulting on the payment might lead to further complications.

One more thing which the users must make a note of is the fact, that once the device is shipped the order cannot be cancelled by the buyers. Also in case of an issue with the warranty, Airtel will not be responsible for the same and the buyers will have to reach out to the device manufacturer for resolution.
