Feedback on AI Overviews

Since launching in May and expanding beyond the US in August, feedback on AI Overviews has been highly positive, according to Google. Users report preferring Search with AI Overviews and finding their search results more helpful, the company shared in a blog post on October 28.

"In our largest expansion yet, we're launching AI Overviews in more than 100 countries and making them accessible in more languages — helping you search in a whole new way, no matter what questions are on your mind," said Srinivasan Venkatachary, VP of Search Quality at Google.

"Helping people discover content from publishers, businesses, and creators remains central to our approach with AI Overviews in Search," the search engine giant emphasised.

New In-Line and Side Links

To improve access to external content, Google has revamped link displays by adding in-line links within overview text and side links on desktop. Initial testing showed an increase in traffic to supporting websites, benefiting publishers and creators. Earlier this month, Google introduced in-line links that appear directly within the text of AI Overviews.

Integrated Ads in AI Overviews

Additionally, Google stated that ads remain integrated, clearly labelled to distinguish them from organic results, with mobile users in the US now seeing relevant ads embedded in AI Overviews.

"AI Overviews are just one of the ways that we're expanding the kinds of questions you can ask on Google and making it easier to explore content online," Srinivasan added.
