Gionee is gearing up to unveil its upcoming flagship smartphone in June this year. The information was revealed by the company’s president, William Lu, in a conversation with Times of India. Lu stated that the upcoming smartphone will not be a overhauled version of the Elife E7, rather a fully revamped device, which will rival against the best.
The device under the spotlight is rumored to be, Gionee Elife E8, it will reach Indian shores soon after the global launch. The specifications of the device are still just rumors with no solid confirmation from the company. As per the rumors, the phone might feature a 5.7-inch to 6-inch IPS LCD display, and octa-core processor paired with 3GB RAM. It may also sport an 18-megapixel rear camera and a 10-megapixel front camera, and a 3,000 mAh battery.
Lu also stated that the company is working on the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its various smartphones including Elife E7, the E7 might receive the update in May or June this year. Also, other Gionee smartphones will get the Android 5.0 update sometime later this month, but the names of those devices are still under wraps.
Moreover, Gionee is also planning to unveil the Elife S7 smartphone for the Indian market on April 4. The S7 is expected to come for a price of Rs. 26,000. The smartphone was launched during the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona in February 2015.
The Elife S7 features a 5.2-inch Full HD 1080p Super AMOLED display, and is powered by a 64-bit 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek processor paired with 2GB RAM. It has 16GB of non-expandable internal storage and sports a 13-megapixel rear camera along with an 8-megapixel front camera. It runs Android 5.0 with Gionee's in-house Amigo 3.0 UI on top.
