Gionee Confirms to Bring Two New Dual Camera Phones to India Very Soon

Gionee was in the news for some not so good reasons lately. According to reports from Securities Times, the smartphone manufacturer is going through a bankruptcy situation, which in turn may lead Gionee to shut its business in the near future. But it looks like that’s not happening anytime soon, at least not in India for sure. Gionee on Thursday announced to launch two new smartphones in the country very soon. Gionee, however, hasn’t revealed many details about the smartphones in question, but what the company did confirm is that both the upcoming Gionee phones will be Flipkart exclusive. Gionee also hasn’t revealed the launch date of the upcoming phones.

Gionee is Coming Back to India

The last phones that Gionee brought to India were the F205 and S11 Lite. Both these smartphones were launched in the month of April in India. It has almost been seven months that Gionee has been shut in India and hasn’t launched a single product. But, with the coming of two new phones “very soon” Gionee is making a comeback in India.

Gionee has already started teasing the upcoming phones and has also announced that the handsets are going to be exclusively available on Flipkart. In the teaser, Gionee has revealed that the upcoming Gionee phones will come packed with “fullview display” “great cameras” and will also offer “great performance” and “long lasting battery life”. Gionee has also revealed that the upcoming smartphones are going to be great looking.

The teaser also reveals that the Gionee phones will sport dual camera setup on the rear panel which will be placed in a horizontal fashion on the top left corner of the back panel. Following the dual camera set up on the rear panel, the phones will include a fingerprint sensor to let users unlock the phone.

Lol with the company going into bankruptcy, I wouldn’t recommend buying their phones. It’s like buying an rcom sim months before it’s closure. Gionee is dead. This could be some desperate attempt to get some cash beforehand.

Gionee india was bought out by Karbonn and Arvind Vohra who was the Indian MD.

they are now using the gionee brand name to sell their own smart phones.

Addendum to previous post: current situation is that gionee india pays annual royalty to gionee China to use the brand name. If products are successful enough, the Indian promoters get a chance at shares of the parent company (Chinese govt allowed foreigners to trade A shares this year). Maybe that’s why they found it lucrative to keep the brand alive in India.
