Ericsson on Thursday announced proposed staff reductions in Sweden as part of measures aimed at strengthening the company’s competitive position. According to the official release, the proposed reductions form part of global initiatives to improve Ericsson’s cost structure while maintaining investments critical to its technology leadership and the execution of its strategy to deliver high-performing, programmable networks that enable differentiated services and new monetisation opportunities.
Company to Continue Operational Efficiency Initiatives
The company said on January 15, 2026, that initiatives to increase operational efficiency will continue across the group but will not be announced separately.
Notice Filed with Swedish Employment Authorities
Ericsson has submitted a notice to the Swedish Public Employment Service, stating that approximately 1,600 positions could be impacted in Sweden. The company has also initiated negotiations with the relevant Swedish trade unions.
