BSNL Broadband Rs 849 and Airtel Rs 999 Plan: Rental is Almost Same But Benefits are Not

Bharti Airtel offers a broadband plan which is a little higher priced than BSNL, but the benefits far outweigh the price difference. Check how the two plans differ

Highlights
  • Airtel offers the Entertainment plan with 200 Mbps for Rs 999 per month
  • The data offering by BSNL under Rs 849 is 600GB
  • Airtel also has an option for the users to turn their plan into unlimited one

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) sets itself apart from all the other private telecom operators owing to its unique offerings. Even in the case of prepaid and postpaid plans, the state-led telecom operator has positioned itself uniquely in the market such that the offerings from the state-led telecom operator are vastly different from the ones being offered by the other competitors. The same is also true for the highly competitive broadband market. Now, in this case, it is crucial to note that BSNL actually has the most extensive broadband network across India, and it is actually the biggest broadband provider in the country. Now the telco is also offering FTTH plans to the users as well. But, in these broadband plans, the thing that steps them apart from the rest is the daily data cap, which is similar to the prepaid plans in the market but is unique considering the fact that BSNL is the only one offering plans with a daily data cap. However, there are some plans which come with no daily data cap as well. These include the Rs 949 plan and more. However, today, we are taking a look at some other plan and its competition.

BSNL broadband upload speed is a pathetic 0.01 to 0.3 Mbps . Download comes to around 7 – 8 Mbps though (in a 20 Mbps plan). I speed tested at multiple locations in Chennai and the upload speed never crossed 0.5 Mbps. Is this the same all over Chennai or is there a fix?
