BSNL Happy Offer Prepaid Plans Ranging from Rs 187 to Rs 999 Explained

In a chase of capturing the telecom market, BSNL is not letting its attempts lag behind other telcos in releasing new and attractive plans. The new plans by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited all come with unlimited data and without any weekly or monthly cap on the STD or Local calling. BSNL has named their new prepaid plans as the BSNL Happy Offer plans, below we discuss the various Happy Offer plans which the government led telco has rolled out. These plans are in-line with private telecom operators prepaid tariff plans, especially with those of Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular.

BSNL Plan 187
This is one of the most basic plans by BSNL where the telco is offering unlimited data and calling. The plan accompanies unlimited local and STD calling and also gives 100 SMS to users per day. The Plan 187 comes with 28GB data for a validity of 28 days. The daily data cap for this plan has been set at 1GB data per day.

BSNL Plan 349
The Rs 349 plan differs only in the validity when compared to the 187 Plan by BSNL. This Happy Plan offers customers unlimited STD and local calling along with unlimited data. The validity of data in this plan has been extended to 54 days, which translates to 54GB data for the total validity period. This plan also comes with 100SMS per day.

BSNL Plan 485
The Rs 485 plan by BSNL also offers unlimited STD and local calls besides offering unlimited data. The validity of this plan extends to 91 days, however, BSNL provides a daily FUP of 1.5GB. Similar to the above offers, this plan also includes 100 free SMS daily. Also, there is no monthly or weekly cap on calling minutes.

BSNL Plan 666
The Rs 666 plan offers the similar unlimited STD plus local calling along with unlimited data but is valid for a longer term of 129 days. The data FUP for the Rs 666 plan is 1.5GB per day. No weekly or monthly cap has been set for calling in this plan, like in the previous one. This plan also comes with 100 SMS per day.

BSNL Plan 999
The Rs 999 plan by BSNL is the most highly priced one and also offers the most validity. The plan which provides unlimited STD and local calling along with 1GB data per day will be valid for 181 days. Along with the usual data and calling features the 999 plan also offers 100 SMS daily to the users.

Note: BSNL is yet to launch 4G services, so the data benefit is capped to 3G/2G on BSNL network.

Plan 666 is the most economical.

I will never ever buy or use BSNL simply and only because it’s plans & vouchers are not applicable in Delhi & Mumbai (MTNL), unlike private operators! Most high spending customers also avoid BSNL because of this, apart from and along with BSNL’s worst 3G coverage & speed.

Most prepaid STVs are applicable in MTNL circles while the freebies associated with the postpaid plans are certainly available even when roaming in MTNL circles.

BSNL 3G coverage just as with many other operators is good or better in some circles while in others there are way too many dead/black zones. Speed also fluctuates from circle to circle.
