BSNL stated that this plan is applicable to both MNP and new customers. The Rs. 44 plan for new users gives 500MB data and Rs. 20 talk time as freebies for new and MNP customers. Besides these freebies, the same plan offers rate cutter and future full talk time benefits.

Basically, this plan is for 180 days, but the freebies for new & MNP customers expire in 28 days from the date of recharge. After 180 days, the plan will either be renewed automatically or the customer needs to manually reactivate it.

Coming to other benefits offered by the Deepam Rs. 44 tariff plan, it offers on-net voice calls at 1 paise/sec and off-net calls at 1.2 paise/sec. BSNL users can add up to four local numbers to enjoy voice calls at discounted rates. After adding four local numbers, customers can enjoy BSNL to BSNL calls at 20 paise/min and 30 paise/min to other calls.

In addition, under this plan, local SMS will be charged at 25 paise/min and 38 paise/min per STD SMS and Rs. 5 per ISD SMS. In the future after recharging the Rs. 44 Deepam tariff plan, customers can enjoy full talk time on top-ups such as Rs. 110, Rs. 200, Rs. 500, and Rs. 1000.

For now, this plan is applicable only for BSNL subscribers in Kerala circle, and the company did not release any info on when it's planning to launch it on a pan-India basis.
