bsnl achieves milestone of 1000 4g towers

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has achieved a milestone of 1000 4G towers deployment in the Kerala circle. Kerala is an important market for BSNL. The development of the 1000 towers milestone was shared by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). This marks an important step for BSNL to offer higher-quality services to customers in the region. BSNL has a target to achieve the milestone of 75000 4G towers by Diwali 2024. Further, by the end of the current financial year, BSNL plans to reach its goal of deploying 1 lakh 4G sites.

The last time BSNL gave an update, the state-run telco said that it had deployed around 25000 4G sites throughout the country. In another development, DoT said that BSNL and Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) are testing 5G. This 5G trial will help BSNL in launching 5G commercially for users in 2025. Officials have already said that BSNL will launch 5G in 2025. Now whether that will actually happen or not is something we will have to wait and see.

Apart from this, there are reports that BSNL will get Rs 6000 crore from the Indian government for help with procuring the telecom equipment for deploying 4G. For now, everyone in the country is waiting for BSNL to launch 4G. This is because the private telecom operators have raised the tariffs of their prepaid and postpaid plans. While BSNL didn't do that, the absence of 4G is the reason why the telco is not adding new users. With the presence of high-speed networks, users will be able to do more with BSNL networks. 5G can come even at a later stage, but if BSNL can offer decent 4G services, then users might keep BSNL as their secondary SIM choice.
