As the month is coming to an end, state-run telecom operator BSNL started making changes to its tariff plans. Just a couple of days ago, the company rolled out two new broadband plans in few areas of Kerala and now, the government-owned telco is making a massive change to its postpaid plans.
According to a report of Keralatelecom.info, the Rs. 1125 postpaid plan will offer 20GB data, and the Rs.1525 plan will provide 30GB data from June 1, 2017. Currently, BSNL is giving 10GB data with the Rs. 1125 plan and 30GB data with the Rs. 1525 plan. However, it's a promotional offer and is slated to end today, i.e., May 31, 2017. Before the promotional offer, the plans used to offer a mere 1GB of data and 5GB of data respectively.
The change in both the plans will be applicable on a pan-India basis from tomorrow. The report says that BSNL has issued an official statement as follows: "It has been decided by competent authority to offer 20 GB free data per month with Plan 1125 and 30 GB free data per month with Plan 1525 under Postpaid Mobile Services. Above free data of 20 GB and 30 GB includes existing free data being offered in respective plans."
BSNL Postpaid Plans | Rs. 1125 Plan | Rs. 1525 Plan |
Current Data Offering | 10GB Under Promotional Offer | 30GB Under Promotional Offer |
Modified Data Offering fromJune 1, 2017 | 20GB Per Billing Cycle | 30GB Per Billing Cycle |
Voice Calls Benefits | Unlimited local and STD calls including incoming and outgoing roaming calls | Unlimited local and STD calls including incoming and outgoing roaming calls |
SMS Benefits | 250 SMS Per Billing Cycle | 250 SMS Per Billing Cycle |
BSNL is yet to make changes in the official website which is currently displaying the promotional offer. The company is making these changes due to the constant pressure from private telecom operators such as Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, Reliance Jio, and Idea Cellular who are offering more data with their postpaid plans.
Besides the data, both the plans offer unlimited local and STD calls including incoming and outgoing roaming calls per billing cycle. Furthermore, it offers 250 SMS per billing cycle, which is a let down because other operators are providing 100 SMS per day for 30 days, making it 3000SMS per billing cycle.
