Telecom operators Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular are not holding back anymore to compete with Reliance Jio. Both the operators are on a roll and launching new tariff plans in quick succession. Earlier this month, both the players launched tariff plans to compete with Jio's Rs. 149 plan.
And today, they've come up with tariff plans to compete with Jio's Rs. 399 plan, but for new users. Airtel and Idea today unveiled an FRC 495 plan for new users. The FRC 495 plan from both the operators gives 1GB data per day and unlimited voice calls for 84 days.
In contrast, Reliance Jio is charging Rs. 498 for a new user who is joining the network. That said, the Rs. 498 is divided into Rs. 399 for the tariff plan and Rs. 99 for JioPrime subscription. Jio is charging more than the incumbent operators.
However, the voice calls in Idea and Airtel are limited to just 300 minutes per day and 1200 minutes per week, whereas in Reliance Jio, there's no limit for voice calls. Clearly, Idea and Airtel launched these plans to take on Reliance Jio.
We got the details of these plans from a retailer from Himachal Pradesh. So, it's confirmed that both the plans are valid in Himachal Pradesh circle, and we don't have info about pan-India availability of these plans. If at all these plans are valid on a pan-India basis, pricing differs with each circle.
Recently, Airtel and Idea also announced tariff plans of Rs. 199 and Rs. 198, under which the operator is giving 1GB data and unlimited voice calls for 28 days. Both these plans are aimed at Reliance Jio's Rs. 149 plan that offers 2GB data and unlimited voice call for 28 days.
Are you from a different telecom circle? If yes, comment whether the new FRC 445 plan from Idea and Airtel are valid in your circle or not.
