Bharti Airtel Expands VoLTE Coverage to Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel today announced the launch of its Voice over LTE (VoLTE) across Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh. To recall, Airtel last month announced the VoLTE services in Mumbai, making it the first city for VoLTE services.

With this launch, Airtel users in both Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh can enjoy voice calls in HD quality. Airtel VoLTE, which works over 4G, will offer customers HD quality voice calls along with faster call set up time.

Airtel VoLTE will be available on popular 4G/LTE enabled mobile devices, which must have an Airtel 4G SIM. Customers can call any mobile, landline network using Airtel VoLTE. There will be no additional data charges for VoLTE and calls will be billed as per existing plan or packs benefits.

As you might already be aware of Airtel VoLTE services is slightly different from Reliance Jio VoLTE services. Airtel VoLTE calls will automatically fall back to the 3G/2G network in the case of non-availability of 4G. This enables Airtel customers to stay connected all the times.

Airtel VoLTE will also allow customers to continue with their data sessions at 4G speeds while the call is in progress.

Dharmender Khajuria, Chief Executive Officer – Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Bharti Airtel said, “We are delighted to announce the addition of VoLTE capabilities on our 4G network in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh as it enables high-definition voice qualities and faster calls set up time. We invite mobile users across the progressive states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to experience this advanced technology.”

You can activate Airtel VoLTE services by following the procedure we’ve written two weeks ago. Also, Airtel has extended VoLTE support for some more Samsung devices, and the operator promised support for more devices by the end of this year.

To recap, as an industry first, Airtel had launched 4G services in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh in October 2016 on 10 MHz of 1800 MHz FD LTE spectrum.

VoLTE started working today in Indore but not in all areas. There is LTE tower in my colony but VoLTE doesn’t work, but in some areas outside (even in some villages) VoLTE is working just fine. May be a technical issue at my colony tower. There is no call quality difference that I could discern – it works just like a normal 2G/3G call. The voice quality seems same as what was being used in Airtel 3G.
