Leading telecom operator, Bharti Airtel has come up with new tariff plans for its subscribers. Countering Reliance Jio, Airtel is now offering a Rs. 199 plan (might be applicable for select customers) that offer benefits which are on-par with Reliance Jio's Rs. 149 plan. While the Rs. 199 is valid for existing Airtel customers, the operator has a Rs. 178 plan which is applicable for new customers.

The Rs. 199 plan from Airtel gives 1GB of 4G/3G/2G data and unlimited local & STD calls for 28 days. In contrast, Reliance Jio's plan gives 2GB data and unlimited voice calls for 28 days, but there's no limitation in voice calls aspect on the Reliance Jio network. But Airtel's website says the plan has some terms and conditions, which might be the restriction of voice calls to 300 minutes per day and 1200 minutes per week.

In addition, Airtel also has a Rs. 178 plan, which also offers similar benefits, but it's only for new Airtel customers. New Airtel customers can avail this offer with first recharge or second recharge.

As said earlier, Airtel launched these two plans aiming at Reliance Jio's low-cost Rs. 149 plan. Airtel is matching Reliance Jio in the tariff plans department right from the first day itself. Airtel also offering a Rs. 399 tariff plan for select users that gives 1GB data and unlimited voice calls for 84 days.

Furthermore, Airtel also rolled out VoLTE services in Mumbai city very recently and promised to offer pan-India VoLTE services by the end of March 2018. In a nutshell, Reliance Jio is also limiting voice calls on its network to 300 minutes for select customers, which we reported yesterday.
