Build-Out Plans in Alberta

The company has unveiled plans for a 1.8 GW capacity build-out with a total pipeline of 3.8 GW, including AI-powered data center facilities across Alberta, expected to go live by 2027. Unlike traditional developers focused on land acquisition, Beacon says it "takes an energy-first approach, securing scalable and sustainable power solutions to support its cutting-edge facilities."

AI-Driven Market Growth in North America

"Emerging from stealth, Beacon AI is developing 1.8 GW of capacity, one of the largest single-site campuses in North America. The company aims to bring several data center shell developments online by 2027," the company announced on January 16, 2025.

Beacon highlighted that "Alberta has the potential to be one of the world's largest and fastest-growing data center markets, driven by rising demand for AI technologies." According to Blackstone, the United States must double its power grid’s capacity over the next decade to meet this demand.

Flexible, Modular Data Centers

"The rapid development of AI technologies requires data centers that are flexible, modular, and fast to deploy. Traditional custom-built facilities, with 24 months or more construction cycles, can no longer keep up with the six-month depreciation cycle of AI chips and machines. Beacon's powered shell data centers are designed to address this gap, providing hyperscalers with scalable infrastructure that can be quickly outfitted with the latest technology. This approach enables customers to maximise the value of their compute power while preparing for future advancements," the company explained.

The company also noted that more details about its development projects and strategic partnerships will be announced soon.
